Which is why I've come to the conclusion that PPV is dying if not already dead. Even I had a stream to the Rousey bout and I wasn't even looking for one; it just popped up on my facebook.

As the baby boomers and Gen X people age/adapt, the PPV buying pool will continue to shrink. I only pay for them out of respect to certain fighters and my fear of malware.

It's a sad state of affairs. Between boxing's dwindling popularity and the ease with which technology can facilitate piracy, it's probably just a matter of time until PPV boxing is no longer viable.

Yep. And I can't see a new direction, either. If networks aren't an option and PPVs no longer make financial sense, where does the sport go for revenue?

Live gate will only get you so far.

Don't think so, as @JeffJoiner said the majority of people who'd actually watch it know how to get it free. That's if it even happens, I think Souja Boy is just fucking with Chris Brown and Chris Brown is really pissed the fuck off..

Really? I feel like Soulja Boy is the good guy here. Mind you, I have no idea who the hell he is.

It was wise of Mayweather to train him instead of Brown. If they linked up it could've been bad. #TeamWifebeater #HardWork #Mutilation

Streaming networks like WWE networks. Say what you want about professional wrestling, but Vince McMahon is consistently ahead of the curve.

Shout out to the Worldstarhiphop crowd.

Doubt this makes it to fight night though, will be an interesting car crash to observe if it does. A lot of celebrities seem to think boxing or cagefighting is some potential goal for success and it ends bad every time. But it does get people talking.

Is this gonna be like... an actual sanctioned match? Like they need to get cleared and get boxing licenses and all that? Or are we looking at an exhibition match with headgear, etc...?

    Anyone know?

And yes, I do believe people will buy this and I do believe it will outperform some legitimate boxing matches that should never have been on PPV to begin with. And then Mayweather can say some shit like "Soulja Boy sold more PPVs than GGG" just because Floyd fucking hates GGG.

    By the way...

I'm picking Chris Brown based on his previous record. (KO1 Rihanna)

Well, they could always pay the top fighters less, forcing them to actually fight more often.

Why, if this keeps up, the best boxers in the world might actually have to start fighting two, three, even FOUR times a year.

    Oh, the horror !!!!!!!!

^ Not only that, but if these damned prima donnas were only getting a few hundred K per fight, and so fighting 4-5X a year, there would be so many bouts that the importance / emphasis on an undefeated record would diminish greatly. Two losses doesn't look so bad alongside sixty wins.

I fail to see the problem with this whole scenario.

You understand that's a borderline impossibility in this day and age, and that is not down to the fighters themselves?
