No love for Castillo - Corrales first fight, then?

This has to be a troll account.

I like Hagler vs. Hearns over Corrales Castillo because of the explosion at the bell and the quality of the guys. Rare that two all time greats fight like that.

i agree for the most part...the thing i like about corrales-castillo was the dramatic, unpredictable twist at the end....gonzalez sorjaturong had the same thing.

Solid for a list of fights from your lifetime. I'd add Pac vs. JMM 2 or 4 to the list.

Definitely Chavez vs. Taylor and the Carbajal bout. Two of the best fights of my teenage years.

Just to brag, I was at both Lara vs. Angulo and Rios vs. Alvarado. I rate the latter much higher. In fact, that same venue hosted Salido vs. Vargas and I have that as the second best fight I've attended, trailing only Rios/Alvarado.

This one is worth a look, Jeff...

I think @Crean was there for this one. It was nothing short of epic.

Crean, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Nice. I will watch this one. My nights out will be limited for a while, and baseball is about over, so I will fire up youtube and watch old fights.

Apparently the atmosphere in there that night was straight through the roof. Unbelievable.

    Have a look, friend.

Yep. I was there, great day. Ireland won the grand slam in rugby that day too. 9 years ago now.

what's your basis for rating rios-alvarado higher than lara-angulo?...rios alvarado was a seesaw slugfest between two guys with limited boxing skills who needed to rely primarily on their toughness...especially rios. It was a great fight, but missing that next level of skill you look for in a world title fight.

lara-angulo was a clash of styles between the master boxer, lara and the consummate slugger, angulo. it had explosive twist and turns, displays of technical brilliance and a dramatic, unpredictable ending....don't know how anybody could ask for more in prize fight.

chavez-taylor, IMO was the most CONTROVERSIAL....but as a fight, it was mostly too one-sided (with taylor beating the crap outta chavez until the late controverisal stoppage) to rank among the truly great fights. nelson-sanchez was also very one-sided in favor of nelson and that stoppage was also controversial, but at the time nelson was an unknown so nobody cared.

i did consider the gonzalez-carbajal fight...it would probably place in the top 15.
