With my hand between two pillows.
Me and you both friendo!
Looking back on past weight loss kicks I've done, there have been times when exercise was not always something I had time for, but diet was a constant in those situations, and given the physical nature of my job, I was lucky enough to get results anyway. I have about ten weeks until I fly to Europe, more than enough time to bang out a good 10kgs.
I can understand how demotivating it is to diet when you can't supplement it with exercise, putting yourself through all that misery while wondering "is this shit actually working??"...
To quote Joel Embiid, you gotta trust the process!
Today mightn't be for exercise, but I have to make it a good diet day!

I'll be weighing in tomorrow morning with that in mind!

I've just eaten ice cream.

Day 9:
A pretty good day of eating as I started off with five steamed pork dim sims, then had some fried squid at about 1pm followed by a 300g sirloin steak at about 3pm, with salad, vegetables and a poached egg. Worked from 9am until 9:30pm, so no workout, but hoping to get up bright and early tomorrow for one!

Once again a bright, early start for a very physical work day, didn't manage the gym... I am trying to retrain my body clock... and failing thus far. Started out with a strong keto breakfast of three beef sausages, scrambled eggs and some fried onion, followed by a bag of cashews... then for lunch had a lamb burger without bread or fries, then a serve of my usual squid at about 3pm... I was on point for a three point day... then...
Got home without the intention of hitting the gym... Just to clean my room up a little (which had gone to squalor a little, only one day off work in three weeks). In my travels I found a packet of neoguri Korean noodles in a shopping bag. I intended on eating them on my last cheat day, but was too full at the time... so I decided to eat the neoguri noodles, and call it a day.
Only I didn't. After eating those infernal noodles I went on an absolute death tear... yoghurt, craisins, all sorts... and then the worst: pretty much an entire packet of crackers with dip and hoummus.
This is the worst kind of blowout, as it's all just food you don't enjoy that much, carbs for carbs' sake.
Here confessing my sins, and will be back on the wagon tomorrow!
A dreaded double bagel.

Day 11:
Once again started the day with a strong keto breakfast. Exercise wouldn't be a possibility due to my usual Friday at work, but sadly I faltered on diet badly as well. Lunch was a typically sensible option (as it usually is at work) of chilli con carne without the rice and grilled vegetables added, and I was off and running toward a 3 point eating day!
Ad fucked it up shortly after as my boss brought cookies into work. Basically, the evening spiralled into total fuckery, although I am proud that I seem to have broken the habit of beers at the end of every single bloody shift (for now).
Anyway, no points added.

12/5/2018
Day 12:
Today was the first of three planned loose days as I had a concert to attend this evening. Beers and other chicanery were inevitable, which really is a much better way to do drinking; just saving it for times it's actually worth it. Anyway, had plenty of sushi for lunch and after the concert, a lot more carbs.

13/5/2018
Day 13:
Mother's Day, and for this I had a big extended family function to attend down in Melbourne. It was a decently sized family gathering at a ritzy (wait for it) buffet restaurant. There were chefs all over, some banging up fresh sushi, others constantly whipping fresh naan breads by bubbling pots of tikka masala and matar paneer, a shitload of other options and a dessert bar that would make a chocoholic shit themselves. It was a special occasion and to be completely honest, a dieter's nightmare. But I'll follow my own advice and not get pissed off at myself.

14/5/2018
Day 14:
Well, there was one more family gathering today as I had lunch with relatives again, at which I loaded up on even more carbs, and given that today was a write-off (an the last of my planned loose days, I finished "strong" with a big feed of take away.

I'm now in the most undesireable position of being 14 days into the month and only having accumulated 12 lousy points, but I have no social or family commitments until at least early next month. Two and a half solid weeks ought to be enough to build adequate motivation, and get myself into a rhythm by then.
I have never stopped keeping tabs on myself this whole weekend, and I know from past experience that that is a good sign.
For better or worse (most certainly the latter), I will weigh in tomorrow morning.

Day 15:
An absolutely stellar effort eating-wise today. Three sausages and three eggs with mushrooms for breakfast, and around midday, rather than a small side of fried squid, I had grilled vegetables today, and followed it up with a baby spinach and grilled vegetable salad with sliced brie and a grilled salmon steak for my 3pm lunch. Absolutely awesome effort and I'm happy with it.
Sadly, kept back at work, so rather than getting to sleep by 10pm, it's now 11:30 and I'm just hitting the hay npw.
Hope to get a workout in tomorrow morning, but with this brutal job it can be hard to pick sometimes.

Jesus, that's a bit bloody depressing.
But, onto the positive. I'm working 7 days a week at two jobs at the moment and for the first time in months, I'm feeling comfortable with my knee and feel as though my range of motion isn't impaired. I hit the treadmill for the first time in months today, concentrating on landing on the ball of my foot rather than my heel, and after a short 5-6 minutes, it felt okay.
Tomorrow I'll go for the full half hour!

Officially one month out from Eurotrip and I'm in full blown freefall. This seven day grind just keeps me locked into a routine of bad habits, and I haven't had an opportunity for that good "restart" you sometimes need to kick into gear.
Having said that, eating was pretty good today. I had a Spanish omelette for breakfast followed by some pork belly pieces at midday and some chorizo, eggs and avocado at 3pm for the old cut off that worked so well back in October. Completely avoided carbs and loaded up on protein.

As usual, my work day was physical, and got into the gym tonight just in time for four rounds of speed rope. Worked up a decent sweat and the knee felt great.
Will weigh in tomorrow.

Weighed in at 110.1kgs. Breakfast was the 3 sausages and 3 eggs with mushrooms, had a few peanuts at about 10am, then had some lean beef at midday. I'd like to say I had a healthy lunch but it was loaded with fat. Chorizo, pork belly and next to no leafy greens or veg. I did avoid carbs though and was on point for a solid 3 point effort, avoiding any food after 3pm. It was a cold, rainy night and I basically had to haul-arse all the way across Sydney to the south western outskirts to look after a friend's cat, make sure it had food, etc. I stopped in at 7-11 and bought a cup of spicy instant noodles, a Korean brand called Shin Ramyun, and just had the chilli soup part. I was well proud of my efforts.
Unfortunately, all the arsing about at my friend's house (washing my work clothes for the following day, etc), with the World Cup on TV, in her house full of food, was too much for me to bear. Normally I wouldn't have such temptations within arm's reach, but the place was loaded with easy to put together foods, and she told me I could dig into whatever for looking after her cat. :sad Needless to say it turned into a double zero day. I did my best to avoid carbs but she had so much cheese, then I had a few crackers at the end anyway. Ah well.

28/6/2018

No weigh in as I was all the way on the other side of Sydney, and had to haul back across to the city central for work. I had about half of a sausage roll before chucking the rest out of guilt. HAd a spansih omelette for breakfast at about 10pm, then some pork belly and jalapeno poppers for lunch at 3pm. I did graze on some pieces of macadamia chocolate over the day, so it was a pretty shabby effort all up. I did stick to my 3pm cut off though, so I can salvage a point out of it.

At the gym this evening, I managed 5 rounds of speed rope, then hit the treadmill with the intention of doing ten minutes. I was very wary of the feeling of my knee, and at about five minutes I started to get some dull discomfort in it. At first I was gonna suck it up, but I remembered what my last tennis session did to me, and how it kinda felt okay at the time, but the next day ti was absolutely fucked.
I bowed out after five minutes, and I'll see how it feels tomorrow.
I'm happy to give myself two stars as it's my best effort in the gym for ages. As I get my form back I'll be a tougher marker of course. But for now I'm proud of that effort.

Another absurd, ridiculous weekend at work that left me feeling like I'd been thrown off a ten story building, and more stories of being burnt out and subsequently slipping up on my diet.

109.1kgs

This one was always destined to be a killer work day, as the last Friday of every month there's a big function that basically packs the entire venue out. So the priority was to stick fast to my no food after 3pm rule with aggressive carb depletion. Ate my usual breakfast of eggs and sausages with mushrooms, ate three pieces of dark chocolate at about midday, then was way too fucking busy to eat anything else by 3pm, so I just pushed through. I finished work at 1am and, as I always do when I'm feeling burnt out, abused alcohol. No exercise but an absurdly physical shift. Managed to stick mostly to low carb beer and ciders, so happy with that.

Woke up feeling extremely sore and tired after my 16 hour day and dragged my sorry corpse into work, hepped up on caffeine with very little sleep. I ate a tasty Spanish omelette for breakfast, minus the toast, and treated myself to a chicken parmigiana with ham at 3pm, without any fries or salad. I was on course for a decent 2 point day and was ready to bang out a good sleep and attack Sunday with gusto... when the Saturday night guy called in sick, which wouldn't be so bad if I hadn't worked with him the night before and watched him go bouncing out to the night clubs after work at 1am with his friends. It was an absurdly busy night and I pushed through until closing time again. Another 16 hour day. I stuck fast to my no food after 3pm rule, but once again abused alcohol.

This is where it starts to get shitty. A customer gave me a present the day before at work, a box of Kiwi sweets from New Zealand, which I was too tired to resist when I woke up this morning. I was hanging for some solid food and I hooked right on into it, all sugary shit and chocolate.
But, what was done was done, and I went to work and ate a nice healthy lunch there of roast beef and vegetables minus the potatoes. After work I broke my 3pm rule and ate some pumpkin soup and tuna salad for dinner.

Ate a schnitzel and four dim sims for breakfast before day shift at the second job, and pushed through an eight hour day without a lunch break. Had two pints of beer after work and failed at the 3pm cut off (although it actually would have been a 10am cutoff this time, so not too hard on myself). I ate a low carb protein bar followed by a doner box with salad and no flat bread.
I got into the gym and did the longest treadmill workout I've done since my knee problems, getting through 20 minutes before the gym closed.

I had some fire motivation this morning, amazing what a gym session can do. I ate the usual breakfast, 3 sausages, 3 eggs and mushrooms, had a bag of peanuts around midday, some pork belly at about 1pm, then a breadless beef burger around 3pm. Ate a cup of instant miso soup at 8:30pm and nothing else. Book it, 3 points.

Once again flip-flopped around rather than getting straight into the gym, but when I got there I did my first half hour on the treadmill in how many months... gonna weigh in tomorrow morning, and feeling pretty good about it. Got some smoked salmon I'm eager to dig into at 7am tomorrow!

Three sausages and eggs for breakfast, some rare beef slices and hot English Mustard at about 1pm, followed by a banging smoked salmon salad. It was on the way to being a perfect day, but as the day wore on I started to notice pretty substantial fatigue... I must be burning myself out all the hours I'm doing and not having any days off... I skipped the gym in favour of rest and eve broke the no food after 3pm rule, eating a small tin of tuna with some shredded parmesan, 100g of smoked salmon and a small amount of veggie mash (no potato). So the food itself was of an excellent standard all day, but I did break a the intermittent fasting protocol, which drops me down to a 2.
Stretching out now about to go to sleep, no plans of exercise in the morning, hope to get a 30 minute jog in tomorrow night though.

Usual breakfast, then some stupid fucking peanuts, and over the day I ate about four pieces of chocolate that a customer brings in and gives to us. Had the same amazing smoked salmon salad for lunch at about 3pm. After work I had two full sugar ciders and a low carb beer.
Got into the gym for my half hour treadmill run and I gotta say, it feels great to be doing that again!

It's a bit of a far-off memory by now, but I'll try my best.
Usual breakfast of sausages, eggs and mushrooms before a smoked salmon salad for lunch. Actually stuck to my no food after 3pm, but did indulge a little too heavily in the low carb beers and ciders.

Weighed in somewhere in the middle 106's that morning, but that was about the last thing that went well. Can't quite remember what I had for breakfast, but lunch was none too healthy and after work I went and met some mates to watch Rafa wipe out the plucky young Aussie kid at Wimbledon. Plenty of beer and crisps and me and my vegan mate stopped off at a burger joint of his choosing on the way to the station, had a vegan burger and chips, which was most certainly not healthy at all.
Double zero. Sunday, another boozy double zero, and I'll skip over it for that reason.

9/7/2018
Went to work feeling fairly pathetic, and indulged in plenty of carbs over the day. A Vietnamese pork roll, two sushi rolls and picked up a weight watchers lasagne for dinner. Not too much fat, but overloaded on carbs.

10/7/2018
Sleep, caffeine and a lack of booze had me feeling MUCH better this morning. Had a Spanish omelette minus the toast for breakfast and a smoked salmon salad for lunch. A physical work day offset the little damage I did with a Turkish delight bar, then hit the gym for my half an hour on the treadmill.
The cardio/fitness aspect felt absolutely fine, but I got some niggling pains in my bad knee, and at 25 minutes on the dot I got a pain that told me to instantly stop. 25 minutes rather than thirty, I can live with that, especially if my knee holds up. No plan to weigh in tomorrow morning as of yet, will play it by ear.

Really, not so bad.
So it turns out my work actually wants my blood. I now know that logging about 36+ hours over Wed/Thu/Fri is a very realistic projection going forward, I can kiss goodbye to ever getting workouts in on any of those days. SO I have to create a calorie deficit other ways where I can.
Time for an even stricter diet!
Fuckin' yay.
I had the usual three sausages, eggs and mushroom for breakfast, followed by... well, nothing. I worked from 9am until 11:15pmm drank two full-sugar ciders and had two miso soups after work. I am fucking gutted about this as I was feeling so positive about finally being able to exercise again, but life happens. Hope to have the same breakfast tomorrow and hopefully a salad for lunch. But we'll see.

Same keto breakfast this morning, three sausages, thee eggs, but they were out of mushrooms so I got some bacon. Fucking hell, incredible. Usual physical day at work and expected to stay until 9pm, but to my surprise, got signed off at 7:30! Fuckin win! I could have raced straight out the door, but I stayed back and necked three pints of low carb beer and did fuck all exercise in the end. Had four miso soups sachets just now before bed (each one has about 4g carbs, so no big deal really). Time for some Wimbledon and sleep.

Really happy with the progress, but had an inevitable slip-up, feeling so burnt out from another 65 hour work week. Bought some sushi on the way home to eat while I watched the Wimbledon final.
