    Day 8:
I'd already decided not to try to fit in a workout today, for reasons outlined above. Plus I had an extra day of work to concern myself with. I also knew it wasn't going to be a great day in terms of diet, but I am happy with how I managed to absolutely minimise the damage, and can give myself a 2. Knowing I would be eating my last meal of the day at 8pm, I saved my breakfast until midday, and ate a Sunday roast at work (roast beef), hold the potatoes.

Absolutely amazing, although probably didn't need the immense amounts of salt and pepper I added. I guess my sodium addiction has to be the next vice I tackle.

I ate a small salad with fish for a late lunch, and for dinner, as I watched the tennis, I had a doner/chicken box from the local with Greek salad and tabouli. A bit fatty, but well within the limits of my diet.

    Day 8

    8/10/17

I did intend on having a really good day. Started well with a great cardio session. For some reason I took my eye off the ball for the rest of the day and regret it, fairly pissed off by it to be honest. Instead of a low carb protein breakfast I had 3 slices of toast, the wife had just had hers and it was still fresh in the kitchen so I thought, 'one in all in'. Followed it up with a couple of chocolate buscuits and finished the day of with a slice of pizza and a few chips. Real ball dropped there, couldn't be bothered cooking so went for the simple and easy like a idiot. Guess the portion size was small, but I fucked up. Ate plenty of fruit and veg.

Kids football on the weekend is a hard master. Always freezing and want to sleep the day off after and can only be bothered with throwing something in the oven. Need to put some good planning in on this

    Day 9:
The eating was excellent again today, starting with ten chicken wings (they're bloody tiny) cooked on a rotisserie, so no oil or frying, and the fat runs off onto the kindling. That was kind of a late lunch again, then in the mid afternoon I had some smoked trout, some brie and two small tubs of dairy and gluten free yoghurt, which is extremely low in fat and sugar. Not what you'd call delicious, but after the hell I've inflicted upon my tastebuds for... FUCK only a week now (!!!), it was transcendental.

I've joined up to a tennis club and tonight was the first group class. I (fairly) assumed I'd be too shit to have any sustained rallies and it would therefore not be any good as exercise, but boy was I wrong. There was so much bloody scrambling and changing of fucking directions involved, my thighs and calves have a dull ache that I'm dreading come morning.
On the upside it was big fun and the people were awesome. I was toying with the idea of doing 30 minute treadmill after the two hour class, but fuck that noise. I'm happy with the level of exertion I sustained. I'll give myself a 1 for that.

Good accountability! Brutal honesty is the best way!

Ah fuck man it's a pisser when you break your diet, but it's somewhat inevitable when you have commitments like that... I don't really... My biggest downfall has always been that I work in a pub, but I've mastered that temptation (for short bursts at a time at least).
Man if weekend football is something that always throws you, maybe you could set it as a designated cheat day? Having a weekly "lock" might motivate you the rest of the time?

I'd given Saturday as my cheat day with me going out on the evening and the rest of the day being a rush. Just slipped in to Sunday too. Think because my cardio was so good I just sneaked it in. I didn't do awful, but instead of it being a very positive day and a step forward I just cancelled out what good I did by the excercise.

Thinking I'm back on track today so far. Again due to my kids football training which is damn late 7.30-9pm and a hours drive away I can't fit in a gym session, plus the wife is working later than usual so my gap is even small to get anything out of it. So diet is the way to go then hopefully tomorrow I can try for a six pointer....

    Day 10:
Started off with a three egg omelette with one small tin of flavoured tuna at 7:30am, before heading to the most physical of workdays, keg delivery day. I snacked a little, eating a handful of peanuts, followed by one chicken wing, then had the epic salad at 2pm for lunch. I had a small (tapas sized) serve of salt & pepper squid at 3pm sharp.

I finally fucking made it through my 30 minute treadmill workout, which was a big monkey off my back. I was half tempted to give myself a 2 given that I (technically) got a personal best so far, and definitely went beyond my previous efforts... but in reality 4-5 30 minute cardio sessions per week is the very least I expect from myself.
    Another 4 point day.

    Day 11:
I fucking failed to make it into the gym today, and I'm disappointed about it.
To be honest, day sessions in the gym have never been my strong point. I absolutely deplore exercising in a crowded gym. And to top it off, my gym doesn't have a whole lot of cardio shit. So there have been times when I can't even get a bloody treadmill.
These are lame excuses though, ultimately. Had I gone at about 9am the place would have been completely empty. But I had breakfast and decided to go in the afternoon. Fucking shocker.
As for the diet, excellent. Once again, ten mini wings off the rotisserie, so no excess fat from frying, and one chicken souvlaki.
For late lunch it was a poached egg and some smoked trout. All this hard work I'm doing should be complimented with exercise... but the results are still coming.

    Day 9

    9/10/17

Kept to the diet fairly well, but did little to no excercise. 8 bacon medallions for breakfast, I also ate 5 wheatabixfor lunch so not exactly orthodox but I enjoyed it. Snacked on mostly fruit and had some home made flapjack. Late lunch after my kids training was two chicken breast with a mouthful of sweet potato that I couldn't finish off. Never intended to get a gym session in so I'm not too bothered about missing out.

    Day 12:
Off the back of a night shift, with a day shift ahead (about an eight hour turnaround between shifts) I flaked out on my pre-work cardio session. Not too negative about it. It was a bit much to ask of myself; getting to bed at 2am, waking up at 6 and fucking exercising. I decided to leave it for tonight, and I did. More on that later.

Breakfast was two fried eggs and some smoked trout. I was pretty fucking well behaved today, even by my standards for the month thus far! I had a tall glass of spicy tomato juice when I got to work, followed by some slices of grilled breast chicken with chipotle aioli at midday, followed by the salad for late lunch at 3pm. Also had one slice of orange (an orange wheel) as well. Stellar effort at this stage of the game.
It wasn't my most physical day at work, but it was physical. Some deliveries to bother with, and 12 hours long on top. Finished at 9pm, which has always been an excuse not to exercise in times past. This time I dragged myself in there with seconds to spare to do my half hour treadmill.
Problem was, I've had a dull ache/stiffness in my knee recently, but I ran on it through the first fifteen minutes. During the first 2:30 active rest pit stop, it felt worse, withe the knee pain/stiffness sending pains up further in my leg.
I (perhaps) wisely chose to dispense with the last 15 minutes and trade it for ten vigorous minutes on the incumbent bike, at resistance level 8, keeping the rpms between 60-70. This might have to be an option going forward, along with the rower, as there is next to no impact on my joints.
    Almost halfway.

    Day 10

    10/10-/17

I had intended a good gym session, but that didn't work out. The wife finished work later than expected so we decided to settle down for a family evening with the kids. That was great, and I'm good to go the following day. Diet was great. Three wheatabix for breakfast, quite a bit of fruit scattered through out the day and some jerky to snack on. Had a bowl of chicken and veg soup for lunch and chicken breasts for dinner. Had a few dodgy snacks available to me today that are really tempting like white chocolate that Iove, but I kept it all away. Nothing exciting yet to note on, going to take a long term view til I can get regular gym sessions in.

    Day 11

    11/10/17

Almost pulled off a 6 pointer today. Diet wise I started off having a genuine blast. Wheatabix for breakfast and some finny haddock for lunch, child hood faveorite of mine. Again mainly snacked on fruit and jerky. Heading in to my afternoon gym session I decided I couldn't be bothered, I'd come over all cold and had a nap. Quickly heading in to the time period I'd set aside to go to the gym I had a sudden change of mind and off I went. Didn't expect much of myself. Ended up havig a great weights session, didn't feel amazing but didn't struggle either, seemed to just get shit done with little fuss. I pulled my usual weights so it was nt like I was slacking. Got hme and the wife had made pizza, nice comfort food and she makes them pretty healthy vey light on the cheese and no bad for toppings, lots of veg plus ham on mine. No matter what I say though and my enjoyment I gotta take a couple of points off diet. Good day though.

    Day 12

    12/10/17

Good day. Managed to get a bit of cardio in, bare minimum to be honest but it counts. Diet was pretty good too. Could have been better and would have been if it wasn't for some mash potato arriving on my plate at dinner. Wheatabix for the kick off and a large portion of cod with greens for lunch. Finished off with roast beef and veg, plus that mash potato.

I even put a little more effort in to it knowing I wasn't going to get to the gym. Same food routine as usual, finished the day with a bowl of spinach and a good sized chicken breast.

    Day 13:
Day started with two fried eggs and some smoked salmon, followed by three sausages and some squid at 2pm and a couple of handfuls of peanuts at 3pm sharp. So while I most certainly dodged the carbs, my fats (including saturated) were pretty up there. No leafy greens or the usual good fat I get from avocado either. Worth a 2 I think.
Work was stupid busy so while I didn't manage a workout, it was a very physical 16 hour grind of a shift, I sat down for less than half an hour the entire thing. So there was a calorie deficit.

    Day 14:
continued my usual Saturday tradition of 10 mini wings for late breakfast, long with a small wheel of brie. For my 3pm feed it was a mix of tabouli and grilled lamb from the local Lebanese eatery, super low in fat. Good eating!
As for the workout, this was the first time since the month's beginning that I can say I powered through the treadmill workout. The familiar knee discomfort was there, but nowhere near as bad before the shift as after. Extremely encouraging, and ahead of the second half of the months, gives
me hope I can start cracking the two point workouts!

    Day 14

    14/10/17

OK, nothing much going on with the excercise. Out a lot of the day with the kids football, but did manage to eat really well. I did miss breakfast so grabbed some fruit and a bag of mixed nuts. Had a bowl of chicken and veg soup when I got in then had some gammon and a load of spinach. Ate more fruit later on and the obliglatorybag of jerky.

Almost half way now. I'm hungry a lot. Feeling and looking a little better, which I guess is from cutting out a lot of the crap. I can kep on improving on that too which is good. The excercise and gym work has not flowed as much as I'd have liked, still stop start. I put that down to not getting off the mark quick with my gym days planned. The little bouts of illness have not helped either, still not quite over the allergic reaction I had last week, all is fine but its a shitter for training hard.

@RappingKungFuToaster How are you set for carrying this on to Novemeber? I think I'll be doing OK this month, another month added on top and I think I'll be doing great. That s my intention at least.

    Day 15:
Weighed in this morning at 101kgs (222.67lbs), which represents a raw weight loss figure of 6.4kgs for the first half of the month. Happy with that (even though a couple of kgs will be goop and fluid flush). Also got a comment off a coworker today telling me they'd noticed the weight loss, which was good to hear!

Went into work on an empty stomach today with the intention of doing what I did last Sunday: doing some physical work then having a roast minus the potatoes.
I pretty much followed that plan other than some unfortunate snacking, which started with a bag of peanuts and a bag of cashews at about 10am, followed by the roast at midday and then two tapas-sized serves of squid and fried fish. All the stuff on those was fried, and sadly the fish was crumbed. I did however behave for the remainder of the day, so I can give myself a two. I might have given myself a 1 for this at the start of the month, given the portion sizes, lack of sugar and avoidance of the usual suspects like potatoes, rice and bread, but just as your standards for workouts can improve over the course of a health kick, so too can your standards for diet.

Got into the gym with just under half an hour for my cardio (as usual) and once again crushed it home. Before I think about increasing the intensity of the jog, I'll look at expanding into a two point workout.

I fully intend on doing just that! Especially as this month has been more of a kickstarter thus far... Seems as though with both of us the progress has been a gradual build on the exercise front. I've had plenty of zero workout days and nothing ever higher than a 1! So with four weeks behind each of us, November could be the one where things really get accomplished!
Having said that, I plan on making today a 2, as I've got tennis tonight and wanna hit half an hour of cardio early this afternoon!

    Day 16:
Started the day with five chicken wings that I took home from work last night. Mini wings, baked rather than fried, and no batter (so low fat content) along with two tubs of that gluten and dairy free yoghurt. For lunch I had a small wheel of camembert (115g, worth about 24g fat) and 100g of smoked salmon. A 3 star eating day for sure!
I hammered a 30 minute treadmill workout and once again it was smooth and challenging, felt absolutely great! I was half tempted to head into the weight room for the first strength session of this health kick, but I decided against it as I knew I had tennis coming up, and I'm a believer in the gradual build!

So I went to tennis expecting to be in the middle "intermediate" group again, only to find I'd been pushed up to the top, most advanced group. I was fucking shitting myself! :sad5  The drills were harder, the stop/start running was harder, the fucking shots were harder. I made a point to run to every different spot on the court I had to though... (for example, some drills required me and two others to run from either deuce or ad court to the net for volley position, and sometimes to the other side in rotation... all in order to drill different shots and angles)... So there was plenty of fucking running around, way more than last week. And I'm even in a bit of dull pain right now... My level of exertion was such that I can not in good conscience give myself a 2 for today. I thought of it, as I know that when I get my gym form back to what it was, I can go even harder... but it is my honest feeling that all that shit at tennis was worth 2 points on its own. The challenge was more than sufficient...
SO HERE IT IS, MY FIRST 6 POINT DAY!

@NSFW I'd be keen to double down on this and make it a full three month challenge if you're up for it! Christmas will obviously be fuckery, but I wanna build to it like any other absurd cheat day/cheat weekend. Three months seems to be the general consensus for proper health/bodily change results. No need to commit to it now, but we'll keep the option there!

Well done on the 6 point day @RappingKungFuToaster!

I want to do the three month of this. Think I need to in all fairness to myself. Having a full long term goal is far better for my state of mind than just trying to get the thing over with, plus I'm not in it for the short term. I need a full term lifestyle of this....and obviously Christmas will be a natural break from it because well it's Christmas.

Health wise I've noticed a improvement. Obviously early on in to this so I'm not a Greek god by any stretch but my shirts are fitting well. I have a load of great shirts I love that I've dared not wear for the past year or two so Christmas they may be getting broken out. That will be my aim.

    Day 15

    15/10/17

This was my cheat day. Watched a film with the kids so had some sweets and a few chocolate buttons. Apart from that it was a good day. Grilled some low fat sausages, 1.6g of fat per two sausage. I had four and spinach. Chicken soup again befoe that and snacked on some chicken breast, fruit and almonds. Good cardio for the day, great bonus.

I had the chance of going to the gym, but still suffering with the allergies. Going to the GP tomorrow as I'm annoyed to hell.

    Sweet! Lock it in!

I needed this month as a kick-starter after my ridiculous holiday, and the intention was always to carry it on! More than happy to make a full three month challenge of it! By New Year's ever when everyone else is making their resolutions, us fuckers can be three months ahead of the game, gawking at them condescendingly! :smile

Man, that is a good effort for a cheat day. Mine are absolute carnage! There is literally nothing healthy at all consumed on the day! Although I am saving it for the start of next month, so I guess I can say I've got four saved up!

Dude, I hear you with the allergies thing, I had that bastard cough at the start of the month, shortness of breath on the treadmill and all sorts. Fucking frustrating dealing with that when I felt the motivation to exercise.
