I don't know Hopkins got $2 mill to fight Kovalev and was beaten pillar to post for 12 rounds this fght is safer and more profitable than that.

Doctors are now becoming more concerned with the cumulative effect than the isolated incidence of higher impacts, and the visible effect of this damage often presents itself years after retirement. Bottom line is Mundine and Green may have already have taken too much punishment for their own good. But evidence of it may not present for 5 or 10 years. The best thing both of them can do now that they are in their 40's is stop getting hit in the head.

Stay tuned for an announcement next week, Mundine's next opponent. All I can say atm is that he's a former world champion and fellow Aussie.

I'm thinking Soliman but Geale and others also fit your stated criteria.

Sounds like Mundine-Soliman IV is about to be announced.

We will see how the Deveryanchenko beating has affected affected Sammy. Mundine will probably fight him at 168+.

I had no interest in watching the 2nd fight I was only interested in the result (I had $250 at $1.50 on Green to win and $50 at $2.60 for Green by decision). But hey I was gobsmacked they made $4 million for the 2nd fight with a build up and it being 1 all and the controversy over the result it will do alright.

Soliman is a natural middleweight and the 3 previous times he has met Mundine it has been at super middleweight. I don't expect Mundine will want it to be at middleweight even if he can comfortably make it because he will be looking to disadvantage Soliman again.

True and he's gone from 154 to 175 doubt very much he will go back to 160. Sam will have to move up I reckon because Mundine is more comfortable at 168-175 IMO.

Green is retired, used the publicity to solidify interest in his side projects/businesses and will continue to pursue those.
I bumped into him a few weeks back at a sportsmans night featuring Dane Swan from Collingwood. He was having a beer and a laugh with any/every mug punter in the place that wanted a chat. He has previously kept his game face on at public events and played professional at all times.
He looked like a content bloke enjoying the next phase of his life.

Prior to fighting Green earlier this year Mundine had only fought once above 160 in 10 years and the latter part of that time he was fighting at 154. I am sure he could return to 160 if he wanted to. But he will more likely want a fight with Soliman to be at 168 where he can impose more size advantage.

Good luck to him. He has earned his fortune in the sport of pain and at 44 has set himself up very comfortably for the future.

It will be interesting to see where Mundine's next fight is held.

Prior to the Green rematch, which was in Adelaide because the Adelaide government made it so attractive, Mundine had fought his previous two fights in Melbourne.

If he fights Sam Soliman, perhaps it will be Melbourne again for Mundine?

Yeah but we have heard all that before.

And with the controversy over the 2nd fight he may want to have a 3rd go to make it more definitive. Who knows with these 2.

Mundine has been rambling on for years about Green riding on his coattails and now Green has exacted the ultimate revenge and left him high and fucking dry. Mundine is literally begging Green for another payday and Green is having a beer at sportsman's nights while his fitness label makes him even richer. Simple case of one bloke making his money and enjoying it and the other bloke without a plan and off with the fucking fairies.

The difference is this time, some of his long term sponsors/supporters from way back in the Fenech days are getting a bit long in the tooth or unavailable due to other commitments.
With the exception of Hyder, "Team Green" has always been a team that makes collective decisions. Some of that team has called stumps.

@stiflers mum for what it's worth I think the score is 2-0 Mundine.

I had Green winning by a point but only watched a dodgy you-tube replay. The fact 1 judge scored the round where Green was deducted a point 10-10 makes it seem a bit sus.
