So Rios gave Mcgregor the beats in sparring.

Mcgregor gonna come into the ring looking like Tony Zale

No way they're charging that much. Our $100 PPVs are typically what, like £25 there? Above a certain price they lose out tons and tons of potential buyers and they don't want to do that. They could charge $10k but who the fuck would pay that?

There's a 'Mcgregor knocked out cold in sparring' before every one of his fights.

According to Rios himself that's just a bullshit rumor, unforgivable whiteness.

Where'd he say that? You stop by the Garcia gym on the way to your sisters house Opie?

Alright I'll own up. I knocked Conor McGregor......on the shoulder, and told him to look for the softest patch on the canvas ahead of the fight.

I can only see White, McGregor and the sport of MMA gaining from this fight (Aside from the obvious financial benefits on all sides).

The amount of media coverage they will receive far exceeds the damage a one sided beating will do because really nobody is expecting anything else.

McGregors drawing power is his charisma and more exposure only helps draw more people in to the sport of MMA.

Nobody is coming over to boxing through watching Mayweather put on a cringe worthy performance in the build up and then immediately retire again after beating up a guy who is 0-0.

Make no mistake, Dana White and McGregor will take their ass kicking, their fat paycheck and will walk back over to the UFC all smiles witj a lot of casual fans on board the Conor McGregor express.

After the fight when McGregor claims that boxing is full of pussies because he walked into the sport of boxing and took on the top dog and nobody was willing to go the other way all the casuals will lap it up and boxing turns another of its own massive events into yet another black eye for the sport.

I've see quite a few people saying they think McGregor has a realistic chance or even that he will win and they are not trolling either:lol:. I would say I'm surprised but after the way whole Ronda Rousey hype train swept people up I guess I shouldn't be. This is a big PPV event and if people are buying it thinking they are going to be seeing a serious, competitive fight then they are going to be in for a big, big shock and likely left disappointed. So there could be a backlash once the fight is over and people realise they've been had.

I agree this isnt good for boxing - its going to be the most watched boxing fight for years and its going to be a fucking farce

but I dont think its good for UFC/MMA long term either - most kind of casual people ive spoke to know that mayweathers an obvious favourite but they dont see how different the 2 sports are and so think mcgregor has a chance and will at least make it a good fight etc. when the fight happens and floyd makes him look like an absolute idiot and beats him up that will put some people off the mcgregor hype train, some people will also probably conclude that mma fighters are shit compared to boxers too and especially if this PPV is mega expensive I dont think its going to make them desperately want to give mcgregor more money for his next fight if he ever has one after this.

Id say this fight is bad for the general sporting public who are going to buy in then feel ripped off and as such is probably bad for both sports on the whole the only people its good for is floyd conor and dana etc

Should the unthinkable happen and Mayweather loses it could be catastrophic for boxing. McGregor mentioned the other day that the boxing community is scared or something along those lines. I can just imagine the fallout. One of my mates who thinks McGregor will win was saying it to me the other day too that I'm worried that McGregor will win because I'm backing Mayweather to the hilt here. How would the boxing world react if McGregor beat Mayweather? I think a fair few fans would lose interest to be honest. The only plus side of this for Mayweather is the money. He knows he won't get credit for beating a novice professional fighter and he'll get criticized for taking McGregor the distance. I don't think for a second that he'll go in and wipe out McGregor like really should do.

I think you're probably right there, I would only really disagree with the idea that no one seriously expects McGregor to win. Imo, plenty of people do. The most likely result in terms of people expectations seems to be Mayweather UD, so maybe there is some potential upside for boxing if Mayweather stops him (which I believe he will)?

When this fight was first suggested I couldn't really see a downside for McGregor - he loses and at least he can say, "at least I stepped up". Now though, he's basically labelled Mayweather an old, weak, frail, manlet. His own fanbase already see him as some sort of iron-chinned, unbreakable power puncher with legit boxing skills so a few could be in for a reality check if he goes in and gets smashed.

I think the best possible outcome for boxing (excluding something like Mayweather KO-ing him with the first punch thrown), would be for Floyd to come out, stand in front of him and basically beat him to the punch every time he throws without giving ground, before stopping him fairly early.

I don't think that will happen from the first bell but I could see the fight going that way after a few tense moments at the start.

Yeah I'd love if Mayweather did that mate. Would be class. I think Mayweather will be usual cautious self with the odd right hand landing cleanly and carry McGregor as long as possible. I'd fucking love it if Mayweather got in there and realised from the beginning that this is going to be easier than he thought and do what you suggested. I simply can't see McGregor holding up if Mayweather fights him in the pocket going body to head. That's where I think Mayweather will stop him should he choose to after a few rounds.

I wouldn't worry too much. If you box or have boxed then think of what it likes when the best, most experienced fighters at your gym get in with any novices who have only just started sparring. Now imagine those guys wearing 10oz and going all out, 100%. That's what this will look like.
