Let's be honest, lots of people hate Hearn and AJ on here and want any old excuse to put the boot into them to the extent that they will make excuses for his potential opponents.
Yeah a bit of a bitch move from Jennings, I do believe though Hearn actively looks to get good opponents in at short notice, so they're not fully prepared, think it's a reason some of our lads have pulled off so many upsets in recent years
All I can think of is that they've called Jennings' bluff here. Yea, ticking over is completely different to putting yourself through the mill every single day but he would have enough time for 5 weeks solid training from now. He should have a decent fitness base to build on so should get himself up to scratch physically by fight night. Mentally, however, he may need to feel that he has had a full camp and has left no stone unturned for him to have the confidence to perform. His team could have easily contacted Eddie a month ago and said "we want this fight" and his eyes would have probably lit up as a ready made acceptable opponent.
Still, it's a bit weird that he's turned this down, maybe he's been sounded out for somebody else?! In boxing, anything can happen to n extent so who's to say he doesn't have a tune up fight, throw his shoulder out and then require surgery and a year out?!
I really hope it isn't Molina. The whole thing has been a farce from the start and everybody involved should be embarrassed and ashamed.
If true I'm not gonna lie I'm happy It's Molina I'd rather It be him than Pricey I like Big Dave and I just don't wan't to see him hurt badly again let him get a bit of confidence before he steps up again.
The sad thing is, we've had "David Haye isn't in our plans yet as he hasn't fought anybody in his comeback so doesn't deserve the fight" for the last 6 months. Then we get into this situation... Makes no sense and fucks over the fans and the sport as a whole.
Says a lot about the state of the division. Molina is ranked 13 with Boxrec, 11 with Fightnews.
I personally don't mind Molina given where Josh is at with his career, and with big fights clearly in the pipeline for when stadiums are available. The issue as always is that I won't pay £16.95 until he has a true test. (At best a few friends will get together and we will all split, as an excuse to get a night away from the other halves!) And of course the other issue is Hearn talking too openly about his Wlad plans, and setting that expectation.
I don't know how to feel about Molina. He's more deserving than Price but they are both such terrible fights that almost doesn't matter. I had resigned myself to the Price fight happening and was prepared to accept it as a comedy event rather than a serious boxing match. In a strange way I was looking forward to hearing how Hearn would try and sell it as a competitive fight and every scouse boxer pretending his has a great chance. Laughing at the picture of Price in a suit for the 27th time and his inevitable timid performance before Joshua knocked him out with the first meaningful shot he landed. Molina isn't even funny it's just shit.
I actually believe Breazeale would be too much for Molina.I'd also pick Dillian to beat him over 12 and think Martin would have a good chance of icing him too.
Molina is better then Price imo but still a total joke of a fight, Hearn and AJ can go fuck themselves the worst title reign in the history of HW boxing from Joshua.
I'm not going to bash Hearn and AJ too hard, they we're clearly shooting for the Wlad match which didn't come off through no fault of their own. You're not going to get much better than Molina on 5 weeks notice, especially when everyone and their cat is trying to get a shot at one of the vacant titles floating around.
The fight should have really been made before the Wlad stuff even became a possibility though. That's my biggest problem with this.
