Just heard him for the first time on Toe To Toe. VERY interesting guy. Said he had to ask for the security job,and that his best weapon is his mouth. Doesn't sound like he throws his weight about this lad,but we know he can fight. Now I know he can talk and he knows his stuff. He's seen AJ from the business end and you don't hear him denigrating him. Also has good words for his friend and rival Joe Joyce. Seems happy with the amateur set up but do you see him going pro at any stage? If so when and how does he do? I think he would do well.

Yes. Way he was talking he's quite happy with the amateurs. Said he's seen enough of the pros to already be a bit disillusioned by it. Also I think Joe IS going pro so that leaves the way open for him to be number one at heavy,at least for the time being. But like you,Id like to see both turn over. Bags of opportunity for them, and maybe with Clarke being younger,he'd do better.

Yes he mentioned him. Apparently theres a big championships this year. Presumably Clarke will be first choice for that but if he does well, who knows what kind of offer he will get? And I think its very likely he WILL do well. BTW he said he's in WSB in I think February, where its possible he meets the guy who got the decision over Joe in the Olympic final. Notice I didn't say beat him.

Think he should stay amateur for a while gaining experience in the GB setup with the WSB and olypics/championships. He's been second fiddle to Joyce for a bit, coming out second best when the two of them have fought which doesn't bode well but he is young and still improving.

Hi mate. Nice to see somebody new on the forum. Maybe you're right about him staying amateur,if only for the immediate future but I wouldn't set much store by him being beat by Joyce. As far as I know there was never that much in it and theres around 5 years difference in their ages I think. I also think in Joes place Clarke would have medalled in the Olympics, maybe even gold. I think Ive got the opposite opinion to you, that he should go pro. But the way he was talking he won't just yet as he is already probably rightly disillusioned by the pros. The thing is,the amateurs are certainly no better otherwise Joe would be turning pro as a gold rather than silver medallist.
Incidentally, when I joined the forum I started a thread about how Joe Joyce would do as a pro. The general consensus that he was too crude and too amateurish. Some posters seemed to even be laughing at me. I wonder how many still think the same?

I'd rather see Clarke turn pro tbh, adding another exciting fighter to the burgeoning Heavyweight scene. No telling if him or Joe Joyce can make "world level" at this point but they'll be interesting additions to the domestic scene at the very least.

Anyone heard any news on when Joyce is turning over?

Agreed. Cant see either guy failing to be a very good pro either. European level at least. Probably Clarke more so than Joe because he is younger. Then if the new amateur lad Dubouis is as good as they say,he can be the choice at the next olympics.

Been very quiet has Joyce, I could see him as a cheeky signing by uncle Frank maybe with the BT Sport money??

I'd like to see Clarke in the pro's sooner than later. They call Dillian Whyte the bodysnatcher but anybody see that bodyshot by Clarke dropped the Cuban in the final of the last WSB? Peach!

He'd certainly have a better grounding than Whyte. Also the WSB will have given him a little insight into the pros,no headguards etc. Plus from hearing him talk he seems a level headed kind of lad who isn't likely to self destruct. Not sure you could say that about Dillian.

Came across really well. Probably the best guest they've had on there. Unfortunately I don't see the amateurs outside of the Olympics so no idea how he'll do as a pro.

But surely the bigger news is Joe Gallagher is Spencer Fearon's guest next week. The two biggest bell ends in British boxing meet
